Sometimes two sounds are produced exactly the same way, except one is voiced and one is voiceless.  “Voiced” sounds are those where you use your voicebox, or larynx, to make the sound (if you touch your throat, you will feel a vibration where your larynx is located).  Voiced sounds include /w, b, m, n, d, g, v, l, z, r/, “y,” and “j.”  “Voiceless” sounds are those that do not require vibration of your larynx and include /p, t, h, k, f, s/, “sh,” and “ch.”  It should be noted that all vowels are voiced.
